My Workroom!

I'm fibbing it's not of course but I got a great book in the post today called 'Where women create' by Jo Packham which contains tons of really inspiring spaces where women artists and craftspeople work so I had to share some of my favourites with you. I'm green with envy but it has inspired me to look again at my space and try to do it up a bit. The space you work in really effects the outcome doesn't it and who couldn't be inspired while working in these spaces?

Strawberry Jam

Thanks to Hen at Henhouse for inspiring me to try making jam! We visited Woodborough garden centre yesterday and picked tons of ripe and delicious strawberries and raspberries ( a few were eaten on the way round!). The 'small stinky' loved the piggies there and they seemed to love her too, perhaps because she seems to attract the dirt within seconds of being dressed and clean! There was also a very cute antique shop there called 'Antiques and Tat' where I picked up a few Blyton books and a sweet deco coffee set. The jam making seemed to go well although there was alot of time spent standing worried over the pot, thermometer in hand! All finished and it's scrummy! Thanks Hen! I hope to post again later in the week about my schools A level art exhibition because I am so proud of what they have produced but I want to check with the students first that they don't mind me blogging about it! Have a good week whatever you're doing.

Romper and Gown Website and a Few Finds

Well, you may remember me talking about the lovely photo shoot down in Devon for 'Romper and Gown' and if you check out their website http://www.romperandgown.com/ you'll start to see the little hats I made for them (and the well behaved models!). They make hand smocked dresses in super cotton prints...really pretty. They've been featured already in Tatler, Vogue and Easy Living and are hoping to use some of these new photos in Country Living too....I'll keep my fingers crossed for that, it would be so lovely to see my designs in a magazine like that...it would make all the hard work and pin poked fingers worthwhile!

A couple of recent finds as well, firstly a lovely vintage china pixie who I couldn't resist as he looks so at home next to the 'Elfie and Me' book box and a set of three jugs in varying sizes from a charity shop, perfect for summer flowers.

This weekend its the Flea Market at Shepton Mallet which is always great, if its warm we'll take a picnic and that should keep hubby happy...yes I know it's Fathers day but I have cleverly suggested we celebrate it on Saturday instead..I know it's dreadful of me isn't it?

As I was going to St Ives.....

No it's not Spain it's our very own St Ives during the half term holiday! The weather was so good my little ones could play in the water and on the beach. The water was still chilly as you can see and it was my youngest's first experience of sand ( we really weren't at all sure!). We spent a great deal of time wandering around the lovely deli's, cafe's, shops and galleries. 'The Digey' in particular is the best cafe and serves wonderful breakfasts ( and yummy brownies too) and the Tate although small is worth visiting just for the architecture and views from the cafe alone. Although we didn't visit Barbara Hepworths house this time we have in the past and its delightful to wander through her garden with all her sculptures. The Leach pottery is also worth a visit if you have time. Now its back home, back to work and the madness of GCSE marking and report writing!!! Have a lovely week whatever you're up to.
